Game Rules Overview
The sport of Airsoft is a sport of Honor and Integrity. All players will always endeavor to behave in a reasonable and responsible manner, especially in areas where the sport of Airsoft and Airsoft weapons are concerned. Public opinion is crucial to our continued ability to enjoy the sport of Airsoft without excessive governmental or legal restrictions and regulations. These rules are in effect the entire time players are on site, not only on the field of battle. The event duration will be defined as the announced arrival time until 60 minutes after the final skirmish ends. We at Prince George Reapers believe that HONOR, SAFETY and FUN are the most important things in any Airsoft game. We believe that honourable and enjoyable game play is the only way to advance this hobby that aggravates our families, depletes our wallets, and gives us chicken-pox all over again, weekend after weekend.
We have put together this set of field rules and regulations for the protection of the player and the game. Please read because you MUST observe the following.
Rule #1: Hits
A: A "hit", "kill" or “tag” occurs when a BB makes contact with any part of your person excluding your weapon. This includes backpacks, pouches, camel backs, headgear, etc. Though in some Mil-Sim or Real Mil engagements rifle hits will mean your rifle is inoperable.
Upon being hit you MUST loudly announce you are hit, and IMMEDIATELY don a "dead rag" on top of your head. A dead rag must have a minimum perimeter of 32 inches, and be a bright neon color that does not match any part of your gear.
B: You cannot talk or communicate in any way once you have been hit, for “Dead men tell no tales!” The only exception to this is if the scenario allows you to call for a medic. Giving information concerning game play or talking on radios while “dead” is strictly prohibited and is grounds to have you removed from the game.
C: BBs known to be "ricochets" do not count as a hit. This is any time that you are certain that a BB has hit an inanimate surface or another player prior to bouncing off of them/it and then hitting you. This being said, always remember: "When in doubt, call yourself out!"
D: Cheating is not allowed. There are no exceptions to this rule. Airsoft is a game, and it is a game in which honesty, integrity, and honor play a very important role. This is not paintball; there are no markers or any verifiable way to insure that a player has actually been “hit” other than the players themselves.
Examples of cheating are, but not limited to;
Intentionally not calling themselves out when hit
Feign being dead (or Possuming)
Intentionally going out of bounds
Using your rifle as a shield
Cheating will be dealt with as indicated under the code of conduct rules. Any players that witness events of cheating, whether by their teammates or by their opponents, should bring it to the attention of event staff as soon as possible in order to quickly take punitive or corrective action. Remember, all we have is our HONOR.
E: If your rifle or sidearm has been shot than the weapon is disabled for a period of five (5) minutes. Anyone caught using their gun in that time will be called out and will need to respawn, this will count as a kill for the other team.
Rule #2: Blind Firing
Blind firing is not allowed. Blind firing is any time you are discharging your weapon without looking down the barrel or sights of your weapon, or are not presenting some form of viable target to your enemy. Examples would be shooting over or around a wall, shooting behind you, shooting through a small crack or hole, etc.
Rule #3: Safety and Stealth Kills
A: A “Safety kill” is when you point your weapon at another player and announce "safety kill", "surrender" or “Bang Bang Bang!". Safety kills must be accepted at less than ten feet; remember the other player is giving you a chance to avoid injury.
A safety kill may only be called if you have "the drop" on someone, meaning you have them in your sights and they do not have you in theirs. You may not call a safety kill at more than thirty feet, and you may not call one without an Airsoft weapon aimed at the target.
If you happen upon another player at close range(<30ft) and you both have your weapons up, call "parley" or “safety” and consider yourselves both out.
B: A "stealth kill" occurs when another player kills you by making some form of physical contact, either with a rubber knife, muzzle, or anything else in their possession, even their bare hands. This is intended to replicate knife or bayonet kills, and thus is the same as being hit with a BB. No matter what the scenario or game type, if you are stealth killed, YOU STAY SILENT and you must immediately don a dead rag and go back to respawn. Stealth kills are nonnegotiable.
Rule #4: Inactive Players
Any person leaving bounds, wearing a dead rag, or otherwise indicating they are no longer in play (ex: saying they are looking for something, etc.), are no longer in play, and in order to reenter game play must return to their respective respawn point or act according to the respawn rules in effect at said game.
Rule #5: Pyrotechnics and Pneumatics
Pyrotechnics, pneumatics, or devices of any kind (whether homemade or store bought) that are not considered normal Airsoft equipment will not be permitted unless the Event Staff has given approval. You must have it approved by the Event Staff before the start of the game.
A: “Bazooka”, “Rocket launchers” or “RPGs” should have air chambers that are made of the following.
ABS plastic
Metal
Rule #7: FPS Restrictions
The following is a list of minimum engagement rules. A minimum engagement distance (MED) is the closest you can get to another player and fire upon them. Players will chrono all of their rifles and pistols at PGR with a .25g bb if they wish to use them in a game. All rifles and pistols must be chronographed before every game start. Event Staff reserve the right to chrono your weapons at anytime pregame, during the game and post game. PGR has a max FPS of 499 with .25g bb.
FPS restrictions MED Rifle action
499 MAX FPS 100 feet Bolt action only
401-500 FPS 100 feet Semi or bolt action only (no bursts)
361-400 FPS 50 feet Full Auto
301-360 FPS 20 feet Full auto
<300 FPS 10 feet Full auto
Please remember that these are limits, not goals. If your weapon has a variance of velocities when firing multiple rounds, make sure the highest velocity shot is still below the limits.
A: Only players who have proven themselves responsible and rule abiding will be given permission to use a 499 fps rifle in game. They will have to sign an additional waiver which must also be signed by a team leader or a team mate. Their team will be held responsible for their actions.
Players under the age of 18 will not be given permission to use a 499 fps rifle under any circumstances. Permission is given on a case by case basis and all decisions will be made final by PGR owner. Those wishing to use their high powered rifle will coordinate with event staff, preferably before game start.
Rule #8: Game Requirements
Age
14-18yrs: Players under 19 must have a parent signed waiver. Your waiver will be kept on file so there is no need for a new one every time you play.
19+yrs, if you are 19 or older, you are considered an adult and can therefore accept responsibility for your own actions and sign your own waiver.
Eye Protection
Proper eye protection must be worn at all times when in areas not designated as “no fire zones”. Proper eye protection is considered to meet ANSI Z87.1/CSA Z94.3 as a minimum. Airsoft specific mesh goggles are also acceptable, but not recommended. Full sealing eye protection that provides no gaps though which a bb may pass is highly recommended. Failure to provide the proper eye protection will subject the player to dismissal from the event.
All players must have CSA/ANSI rated eye protection.
A: While in a live fire area or game area, eye protection is NOT to be removed for any reason. In the event of eye protection failures (fogging for example) seek the assistance of another player to escort you to a “no fire zone”. Any player caught without eye protection or caught removing such protection in the live fire zone is reason for removal from the game.
B: If any player observes another player without proper eye protection in place while in a live fire area, loudly announce a cease-fire, “BLINDMAN!”; everyone in ear shot will continue to repeat the “BLINDMAN!”, drop their rifle, stand up and insure that said player without eye protection is escorted into a safe area as soon as possible.
Water/Hydration
All players must carry and consume water while playing on the field no matter the time of year.
Suggested ways to carry water
Hydro pack
Canteen
Water bottle
Footwear
It is HIGHLY SUGGESTED that you wear combat or hiking boots. Flips, sandals or bare feet will not be permitted.
BB types
PGR standard for bb’s is 6mm in size and .25g in weight. There is no restriction on bb weight during play as long as the weapon is calibrated to the velocity restrictions in Rule #7.
8mm bb weapons are permitted as long as they conform to velocity standards (Joule conversion will be based on similar energy from standard 6mm, .25g ammunition).
Metal clad or all metal bbs are not permitted, although graphite coated 6mm bbs are permitted. Projectiles containing paint or other “marking” substances are not permitted.
Rule #9: Admin Radio Channel
Channel 1 on the FRS or GMRS radios is always reserved for event officials use only. Players can use the channel for the following reasons.
Medical Emergency
Rule clarification
Game start signal
For most game starts, at least one player on each team should have a radio listening to channel 1 for game start signal.
Rule #10: STRICTLY FORBIDDEN
For everyone’s safety the following items are strictly forbidden from every event.
Real firearms
Real knives
Possession/Use of Drugs and Alcohol
Lasers over 5mW
If you are found to be in violation you will be immediately and permanently banned from PGR.
Rule #11: Rifle Rules
Always treat your Airsoft weapon as if it were a real firearm. Never point your weapon or fire it at another person unless it is during a skirmish. Never fire any Airsoft weapon at a person who is not wearing proper eye protection. Never fire your weapon without your proper eye protection in place. Any discharge of any Airsoft weapon outside of designated live fire areas is reason for immediate removal from the game.
A: When in no-fire zones (ie the Parking Lot), rifles and pistols should be on safe and there should not be a magazine inserted in your rifle, your pistol may be loaded but it must remain in your holster while in staging areas.
B: When exiting the game, weapons magazines must be removed and the barrel cleared by firing several times in a safe direction to insure no bb’s remain in the barrel/chamber, then put in to “safe” mode.
Rule #12: Field Property
To keep playing at this field we must maintain a good level of cleanliness and respect for the land we play on.
A: Purposeful littering is grounds for being banned from PGR events. The parking lot, most forts/bases and the respawn areas will have trash cans, please use them.
B: Destruction of field property and props (ie Pipe Missile or Bomb Box) is grounds for being banned from PGR events. You cannot move walls, barriers or blockades on PGR fields. You cannot dig a hole, cut down trees or remove florescent boundary markers.
C: Purposeful shooting and harassing of local wildlife is grounds for being banned from PGR events. You can “shoo” the animals away from the playing field or pick up and move them off the PGR field but you cannot injure them in anyway. If the area of the PGR event is having an issue with an animal contact Event Staff immediately.
Code of Conduct
All members will conduct themselves at all times in a fair and honorable manner, and in a manner that is consistent with the ideals of fair play and team work.
A: Violent behavior of any kind is not allowed. There are no exceptions to this rule. Physical contact, the threat of physical contact, intimidation or coercion of any type, verbal abuse, sexual abuse, damage or threats of damage to any person or their property are not allowed. Law enforcement will be involved if necessary.
B: Theft is not allowed. Any person found stealing another person’s property will result in the immediate dismissal and banning of this person from PGR events. Law enforcement will be involved if necessary.
C: PGR will not be held liable for any loss of personal property. PGR highly suggests that you leave all valuables locked and secured in your vehicle during the duration of the event.
D: The intentional firing of any Airsoft weapon at any non-combatant, animal or at any person not directly involved in a skirmish, including players in designated “respawn” areas or staging areas or any area not designated as a live fire area, or at any player or person without proper eye protection in place, is not allowed and will be cause for the offender to be ejected from the game.
E: Always be a good sport. Win well, and lose better
F: If you observe someone not calling themselves out when hit, do not get into any type of altercation. Try to be diplomatic and polite. Bring attention to the situation by saying, “I saw the bb’s hit you, but you probably didn’t feel them.” If it appears there can’t be an honorable solution on PGR, both players should call themselves out and resolve the situation back at respawn. If necessary, move on and bring the matter to the attention of the game admin or referee. Yelling across PGR at other players to call their hits is unacceptable and only makes you look bad.
G: If you find yourself in a situation where you have been hit, and you call yourself out, but are still getting shot at, remember that in the heat of battle, it is often difficult to hear someone calling himself out over the distance and over the noise on a battlefield. Call out louder, but protect yourself and try to remove yourself from the danger area as quickly as possible.
H: If you find personal property on the field you should turn it into any Event Staff to be placed in the Lost and Found. One day it might be your property someone else finds, wouldn’t you want them to turn it in too?
I: We use a “flag” system when real life injuries are in question. “Red Flag” means that someone is seriously injured, all players must cease fire, clear rifles and head back to staging. A “Yellow Flag” means that there is a possible injury, all players must cease fire and wait for further instructions. Finally a “Green Flag” means everything is fine, game will either restart or will continue with a “Game Start” signal.
